Holsteiners are very popular sport horses and are one of the oldest German breeds. The monks at Uetersen Monastery, located in what is now Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany, started breeding them in the 14th century. However, the first recorded mentions of Holsteiners are much older, dating back to the year 1225.

Knabstrupper and Appaloosa stallions look very similar, as they both have spotted coats. However, the two breeds developed independently. The Knabstrupper breed comes from Denmark, while Appaloosas originated in the USA. Knabstruppers are not only popular because of their coat pattern, but are also talented dressage horses. Trakehner are considered a very noble warmblood breed. American Saddlebreds are well-known for keeping their heads and their beautifully curved tail high - like the American Saddlebred gelding by Schleich Horse Club. Welsh ponies are among the most popular riding ponies in Europe. They are spirited but very good-natured and friendly. Welsh ponies can be small and dainty or big and stocky. For this reason, they are subdivided into several different breeds, such as Welsh mountain ponies and Welsh cobs.

Dromedaries live in the deserts of Africa and Asia. They eat mostly leaves, dry grass and thorny plants. The hump of the mammal isn't used to store water; it stores fat. If they can't find any food in the desert they can live off it for weeks. The dromedary from Schleich? Wild Life has eaten well recently and has an upright, well-filled hump.
