Holsteiners are very popular sport horses and are one of the oldest German breeds. The monks at Uetersen Monastery, located in what is now Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany, started breeding them in the 14th century. However, the first recorded mentions of Holsteiners are much older, dating back to the year 1225.

Holsteiners have powerful hindquarters that allow them to jump very high. They often win medals at the Olympic Games and other major equestrian events. While the average leisure horse is around 155 cm tall, Holsteiners are significantly bigger: usually 165-175 cm.

Exhausted but happy, Lisa and her beautiful Hanoverian gelding trot back to the stables. They have just finished training together. It was great fun for both of them but also a bit exhausting. That’s why Storm, the magnificent gelding, is allowed to rest for now. Lisa gets down from the saddle with a flourish and opens the door to the box. Inside, she takes off her helmet and leads Storm into his home. She skillfully undoes the straps on the saddle and removes the saddle and bridle from her faithful companion. Time to relax!

No wonder the Appaloosa mare and her foal feel so comfortable in the horse box: It’s so cozy here and they have everything their hearts desire. Their feed is in the hayrack and soft horse blankets are also ready to be put under the saddle. While mare and foal drink a little water from the trough, the cat keeps them company. She has made herself cozy on the bale of straw. But she’s not interested in the carrot, which the horse is allowed to nibble on. Maybe they’ll both go out to the paddock to have some fun together.

After all the riding, jumping and tidying up, every horse is looking forward to a break. The best way to do that is in the cozy horse stall from the Schleich® Horse Club. Here, you'll find everything a horse's heart desires: they can eat at the feeding rack and the watering trough will quench even the biggest horse's thirst. The only thing missing is an ice-cream machine. Luckily, you can close the stall or leave it open, depending on your mood. The horses prefer it open so they can show off their championship rosettes. But only the really special prizes are on display. Otherwise there'd be no room left for the horses! Which room do you feel most cozy in?

Yummy! When the smell of fresh apple pie wafts through the air at the Schleich® Horse Club's rider's café, all the customers feel hungry. Among horse fans the colorful meeting place is also known as "Cups and Saddles." How cool that you can enjoy delicious pie and hot drinks here with your friends and, thanks to the trough and watering hole, your horse won't feel left out. But watch out, you don't want your horse nibbling the table decorations! After all, what horse wouldn't love a nibble of fresh flowers?
